Many course records set at 2nd annual Mount-Royal challenge

It was a splendid day again for the second annual Mount-Royal challenge in Montreal, QC, on June 10th. 44 athletes from 4 of the big clubs around Montreal fought it out all day on the 3 traditional tests of the Challenge: a 1.7km uphill skate time trial (9% grade average), a 1.5km uphill trail run (with stairs! Brutal…) and to finish the day a 1km uphill double pole test. The CCC rollerski fleet was used again for standardization.

On the senior men side, Nicolas Beaulieu set new course records for the skate and trail run uphill tests while Cendrine Browne set the women’s record for the uphill double pole test. On the junior side, 2nd year junior boy star Olivier Léveillé dominated the day in the juniors and even set a new junior course record for the skating uphill (previously held by Nicolas set last year). Alexandra Racine also beat her own skating uphill record.

Overall it was a great day of testing and the athletes were tired in the end but thrilled with their progression.

PS: Alex is scheduled to do the tests sometime this summer. We’ll let you how he does…
