CCC National Marketing Campaign Shortlisted for CLIO Sports Award

    June 19, 2014

Cross Country Canada’s “Other Sports” national marketing campaign found itself in some elite company this week, receiving a nomination for a CLIO Sports advertising award. Created by Peterborough-based agency Brandhealth Communications, the campaign was launched by CCC in the spring of 2013 and rolled out to ski clubs across the country last October. Geared towards increasing awareness as well as participation levels for the sport, the innovative and creative campaign showcased the many advantages of cross-country skiing by indirectly targeting other sports with fun, catchy slogans.

“We wanted to give cross-country skiing the ‘cool factor’ that it deserves,” commented Brandhealth Creative Director Rick Kemp. “Cross- country skiing is unlike any other sport. It’s completely pure. There is something about being in a forest in the middle of winter gliding across the snow that refreshes your body and mind. Are other sports envious of cross-country skiing? We think so.”

The shortlist for the inaugural CLIO Sports Awards was announced in New York City this week, and Brandhealth’s work for CCC was nominated in the Print Media category alongside campaigns from North American professional sporting giants such as the NFL, Major League Baseball, the X Games and the Boston Red Sox.

The CLIO Awards is the world’s most recognized international awards competition for advertising, design, digital and communications. CLIO maintains its original commitment to celebrate and reward creative excellence, while continuing to evolve with the industry to acknowledge the most current, breakthrough work.  In its inaugural year, the CLIO Sports Awards will recognize the dynamic and still growing impact of sports on marketing and advertising. Creative submissions will be evaluated by a distinguished jury panel of industry executives whose own work epitomizes the CLIO Mission. The winners of the CLIO Sports Awards will be announced at a gala dinner and ceremony in Manhattan on July 17th.
