CCC Awards

Dave Rees Award

Awarded to any man or woman who has made a long-term, outstanding commitment to the sport of cross country skiing in Canada.

Nominees should have an extended history of involvement with cross country skiing at all levels (local, regional and national) and in any of the many ways in which volunteers or professionals give of themselves to our sport.

This award was created in 1989 in recognition of the outstanding contribution by Dave Rees to cross country skiing in Canada.

This award can be granted post-humously.

The Firth Award

Awarded to any woman who has made an outstanding contribution to cross country skiing in Canada.

Nominees should have been involved at the local and regional level at a minimum, and possibly nationally as well.  They will not only have been thoroughly involved in their sport in a wide variety of ways but will have passed on their enthusiasm and had an influence on involving others.

Volunteer Of the Year

Awarded to men or women who have made a significant contribution to the local, regional or national development of cross country skiing.

Nominees will be individuals who have gone "that extra mile" in their volunteer contribution to their club or division or on a national Committee or Board.

In addition to the above awards, Cross Country Canada also presents two other annual awards.  Nominations for these awards normally come from CCC staff and/or Executive members.

Sponsor of the Year Award

Awarded to the Sponsor or Supplier who goes beyond the scope of their sponsorship agreement with CCC by making a significant commitment/support to the sport, and to the National Ski Teams.

Nominees will be sponsors or suppliers who have provided exceptional financial and/or equipment/clothing support to the team and have done so in a timely and hassle free manner.

Media Award

Awarded to an individual, a newspaper publisher, or television station (member of the media) who has taken the time and effort to highlight and portray athletes in the sport, as well as continually writes or publishes articles and press releases about the sport of cross country skiing.

Nominees will be those who have presented the sport through the media in a positive and exciting manner, continuously throughout the year, or one who has done an exceptional job at a particular event (major events such as Canada Games, National Championships, Olympic Games).
