      IMPORTANT INFORMATION for POTENTIAL 2014 WJ/U23
      WORLD NORDIC CHAMPIONSHIP ATHLETES:

      Upon the completion of the World Junior/U23 Trial races, successful athletes will be required to stay in Canmore until departure to Europe.  No exceptions will be made.  Therefore, when packing for the trial races in Canmore, you must pack assuming you will depart to Europe closely following the final trials race.

      YOU MUST TRAVEL TO CANMORE TRIALS WITH:

      • PASSPORT (ensure it is up to date and will not expire within 3 months of your departure from Europe)
      • BLOOD TEST RESULTS –bring your last set of blood test results that must include a CBC and ferritin test (highly recommended that you have blood tests done in November or December)
      • FIS RACING LICENCE is purchased before first Nor-Am races
      • ALL EQUIPMENT AND TRAVEL NECESSITIES - all skis, equipment, clothing, electrical converters, etc. required for racing and travel in Europe (zero/rub skis highly recommended)


      OTHER NOTES OF IMPORTANCE:

      • TRIP FEE DUE BEFORE DEPARTURE- You will be required to pay the trip fee to CCC no later than Jan 15th.  The fee is $1500 and in the event that we select a 5th Junior athlete male/female, the fee for these athletes is $3500.
      • NO SICK ATHLETES WILL TRAVEL - athletes need to demonstrate through medical evidence that they are healthy and ready to travel. This will be verified through the athlete’s coach and the NST physician.
      • FLIGHT CHANGES AT ATHLETES EXPENSE– CCC has pre-booked all flights to Europe and return.  Any flight changes are at the athlete’s expense.
      • CANCEL RETURN TRAVEL -be prepared to cancel return travel from Canmore/Calgary to your home (at your expense)
      • ORGANIZE all school/work commitments post trials


      The DRAFT plan for the 2014 World Junior and U23 Championship trip is as follows:

      Jan 12                        Team selected upon completion of the final Trials race

      Jan 13-15                 Team Training Camp in Canmore (CCC will provide accommodation as required)

      Jan 16                        Departure to Europe – Fly Calgary to Munich

      Jan 17                        Arrival in Europe, drive to Seefeld, Austria

      Jan 17 – 22              Train and acclimatize in Seefeld, Austria

      Jan 22-27                 Train in Toblach, Italy

      Jan 27-28                 Drive to Val di Fiemme, Italy and train on World Championship race course

      Jan 29-Feb 3           World Jr/U23 Championships

      Feb 3                         Pack up and Drive Val di Fiemme to Munich, overnight near Munich airport

      Feb 4                         Fly Munich to Toronto and home
