    $800,000 raised for Canadian Athletes at Jacques Rogge luncheon

    International Olympic Committee President Dr. Jacques Rogge headlined an historic fundraiser in Quebec City today that raised over $800,000 in funds for Canadian athletes.

    “It is always a pleasure to come to Canada, Quebec in particular, and even more to participate is such an important event for Canadian sport and for Canadian athletes. Hosted by the Canadian Olympic Committee and President Marcel Aubut, this event will help young future Olympians to pursue their sport and achieve their Olympic dreams,” said Rogge.

    “Canada is one of only a few nations to host three Olympic Games,” he continued. “As with Montreal 1976, Calgary 1988 and Vancouver 2010, this event brings the country and its citizens together, from coast to coast, to celebrate this event, to express the same feeling of national pride, and to bear witness to the affection Canadians have for Olympism.”...
