Haywood RACE Report: Zoë Williams and Julien Locke win AltaGas sprints at Highlands Nordic

    The first day of the Haywood NorAm/Eastern Canadian Championships got underway today with the AltaGas, classic sprints at Highlands Nordic.


    With temperatures a bit nippy, below -10 deg. C., it was a cool start for the qualifiers. Chelsea Nordiq's Laura Leclair and Black Jack's Julien Locke posted the fastest times.

    The women's race saw Nakkertok's Zoë Williams win the women's final over Laura Leclair. Mia Serratore of Big Thunder was 3rd.

    The junior race was won by Heidi Stewart of Big Thunder, 2nd was Shaylynn Loewen of Georgian  Nordic Ski & Canoe Club and 3rd was Bronwyn Williams of Nakkertok.

    Julien Locke came through to win the men's finals, ahead of Nakkertok's Dominique Moncion-Groulx and last weekend's Lake Placid SuperTour sprint winner, Antoine Briand of  Skibec.

    Nakkertok's Pierre Grall-Johnson, was the top junior man, with Mono Nordic's Alexander Maycock 2nd and another Nakkertok skier, John Lindfors 3rd.


    Saturday features interval-start, classic racing. Please note Live Results are not expected to be available.
