      Day 2 of the Haywood NorAm + US SuperTour races took place this morning at Sovereign Lake Ski Centre, with minus 6 deg. temperatures and great tracks.

      Today's races were 10k for women and 15k for men.

      Nakkertok's Katherine Stewart-Jones got off to a fast start in the women's race, with an 18 second lead after the first 5k, holding on for a 7 second win over Becca Rorabough of APU. Saturday's sprint winner, Stratton's Julia Kern, was 3rd.

      Whitehorse's Dahria Beatty was the 2nd Canadian in 5th, with Telemark's Hannah Mehain the 3rd Canadian in 9th.

      Sr. Women's podium

      In the junior competition Novie McCabe from Methow Valley was the repeat winner, 14 seconds ahead of Jasmine Drolet of Black Jack. Sofia Sanchez of Sugar Bowl was 3rd, with Black Jack's Molly Miller the 4th, the 2nd Canadian. Anna Pryce of Foothills was the 3rd Canadian in 7th.

      In the men's race it was 2 American's neck and neck over the course, with Stratton's Kyle Bratrud prevailing by 3 seconds over Benjamin Lustgarten of Craftsbury. Fondeurs Laurentides Ricardo Iziquierdo-Bernier continued his strong start to the season with the bronze medal. Bob Thompson of Team Hardwood and Phillippe Boucher filled out the Canadian podium places, with 7th and 8th place finishes.

      Sr. Men's Podium

      For the junior men Canmore's Sam Hendry grabbed the win, 4th in the open class, ahead of Remi Drolet of Black Jack, who claimed another medal on the day for the Drolet family. Luke Jager of APU was 3rd, and Tom Stephen of Foothills was 3rd Canadian, 6th overall.

      The next stop on the Haywood NorAm circuit will be in Canmore on Thursday, the start of the World Junior and U23 Championship trials. The events needed to be moved from Whistler because of poor snow conditions.

      Sovereign Lake ran a great series of races, and the skiers are excited to return to the venue for the 2020, 94th Canadian Ski Championships.
