Haywood RACE Report: Alex Harvey 13th, Emily Nishikawa 34th at Beitostolen World Cup

    The 3rd stop on the World Cup was Beitostolen, Norway, with 15 and 30k skate races. Temperatures were just below zero, with some fresh snow on the course as the skiers headed in the interval start competition.

    The women's race saw Therese Johaug of Norway claim her 5th victory of the season by a minute over Sweden's Charlotte Kalla. Ingvild Flugstad of Norway was 3rd.

    Emily Nishikawa was 34th and Cendrine Browne 38th, for a solid start to their World Cup racing season.

    Andy Shields and Alex Harvey raced the 30k for Canada in a race that was won handily (35.2 seconds), by Sjur Roethe of Norway. Martin Sundby of Norway was 2nd and Andrey Melnichenko of Russia was 3rd.

    Alex skied a consistent race, and caught a good "ride", following Magne Haga and Alexey Chervotkin for much of the last 3rd. Alex ended up 13th, with Andy Shields 63rd.
