Ian Rawes served as CCC's technical director in the early to mid 80's. He began at CCC in 1980 when the association broke away from the Canadian Ski Association to form it's own separate organization. Prior to his work at the national level he was a coach and technical director with Cross Country Saskatchewan.

In his role as Technical Director Ian was instrumental in the early development of the coaching and officiating certification programs and the formalization of the National Ski Team program. Following his employment with CCC he was an active course conductor and master course conductor for the sport. His efforts for the association were an important contribution to the "grass roots" and international success we enjoy today.

Ian will be remembered as a very personable fellow with a strong dedication to the development of the sport and a friend to many.  As long time CCC volunteer and former National Ski Team Olympian Dave Rees said "this is terrible news - such a sad loss. We had many great years with Ian at CCC and considered him a good friend as well as a colleague".
