CCC Thanks Maureen Kershaw and Jean Bristow for Long-Standing Service as Committee Chairs

      June 20, 2011

Cross Country Canada’s Board of Directors, staff, athletes and volunteers all thank Maureen Kershaw and Jean Bristow for their contribution and commitment to growing the sport of cross-country skiing across Canada.

Both Maureen and Jean have officially stepped down from serving as committee chairs and members of the CCC Management Committee following the organization’s 2011 Annual General Meeting in Quebec, June 11-13.

Maureen, who has chaired the Women on Skis Committee for over 10 years, has played a critical role in growing and shaping programs and policies that have helped CCC to ensure equality of opportunity for girls and women as participants, competitors, coaches, officials and leaders in cross-country skiing.

Jean, who has been a volunteer for Nordic clubs and programs for more than two decades, contributed five years of service as Chair of the Clubs and Membership Committee, helping CCC to foster membership growth and club development.

Maureen and Jean’s knowledge, passion and commitment to the organization will be very difficult to replace.  Over then next while, CCC will work to refine the terms of reference for these committees and seek new chairs to carry out similar initiatives.

CCC thanks Maureen and Jean for their service.  We are certain to see them at Cross Country Canada’s events in the future.
